My 8 Favorite Halloween TV Episodes or Specials

I know that my blog is primarily a “mama” one, but that’s certainly not all that I am. As I said on my “about me” page, I’m a big TV, book and movie buff. I find each of these to be great outlets when I just need to get my mind off of day to day mama stress. It’s like a mini vacation for me, as I’m sure it is for many of us.

I thought it would be fun to share a list of some of my favorite Halloween TV show episodes or specials with you since the holiday is only a few days away. I’ll probably do this for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years as well.

1. Boy Meets World, Season 5, Episode 17 – “And Then There was Shawn”
The crew finds themselves locks in the school, all alone, during detention. A killer is on the loose, but don’t be alarmed… the episode is more humorous than terrifying, and there’s a twist at the end.

2. Friends, Season 8, Episode 6 – “The One With the Halloween Party”
Monica and Chandler throw a costume party, and obviously some funny things happen as a result. Phoebe is dealing with a bit of drama after bumping into her sister, and Rachel is trying to make nice with the trick-or-treaters by giving out money after she runs out of candy.

3. That 70s Show, Season 2, Episode 5 – “Halloween”
The gang decides to spend Halloween in their old, burnt out and abandoned elementary school. It makes for a hilarious turn of events. Also, Fez dresses as Batman for his first Halloween in the states, and that basically makes the entire episode for me.

4. One Tree Hill, Season 3, Episode 4 – “An Attempt to Tip the Scales”
All of the kids in town go to a costume party at Karen’s club, Tric. There’s a whole segment synced to music where Lucas tries on a bunch of Halloween costumes for Haley, Mouth and Peyton put on a dance to disco for everyone… Oh, and Nathan Scott dresses up as Batman. What’s not to love?

5. The Office, Season 2, Episode 5 – “Halloween”
There’s a Halloween party happening in the office and everyone is dressed for it. The fact that Michael is being pressured to let someone go that day – in costume – puts a damper on things.

6. Parks and Recreation, Season 2, Episode 7 – “Greg Pikitis”
Leslie Knope goes a little crazy trying to catch a high school punk who TP’s the parks every Halloween. Cray cray Knope always made for a good episode. Ahh, I miss this show.

7. Modern Family, Season 4, Episode 5 – “Open House of Horrors”
Phil tells Claire that she isn’t scary, and she takes that as a challenge to terrify him during his big open house showing. It cracks my up every time I watch it.

8. It’s a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
How can I not put this on my list? It’s a tradition in my family to watch this special when it airs on TV every Autumn. I’m looking forward to seeing it this year as well.
